About
Welcome to Bennett's Fish and Chips, a cornerstone of coastal dining nestled at 14 Trinity Rd, Weymouth DT4 8TJ, United Kingdom. With a charming location overlooking the picturesque harbour, this establishment has become a beloved spot for both locals and visitors seeking the quintessential British dining experience.
Bennett's offers a delightful menu centered around expertly prepared fish and chips. According to rave reviews from customers, the fish is nothing short of remarkable. Diners have praised the fresh, crispy batter and perfectly cooked fish, mentioning options like locally sourced mackerel and classic cod and haddock. One enthusiastic patron, Bob Penny, recounted a memorable experience, stating, "The haddock I had from there was truly the freshest and most delicious piece of fish I’ve ever had."
But it’s not just the fish that impresses; the sides are a definite highlight as well. From homemade mushy peas to chunky baked beans, every accompaniment is crafted with care. Portions are generous, and the 10 beer-battered onion rings or the delectable halloumi fries make for perfect companions to your meal. If you're in the mood for something festive, the loaded fries come highly recommended, with options like The Meaty One and The Veggie One.
The atmosphere at Bennett's is another standout feature. Customers have noted the vibrant, community-driven environment, complete with benches by the quayside that provide a lovely view for enjoying your meal. As Dennis Harrild described, dining alongside the harbour and relishing the fantastic fish and chips is always a good sign of a quality chippy.
Whether you opt for a classic pile of chips or indulge in a hearty steak and ale pie, the consistent theme is quality and value. With efficient, friendly service that keeps customers returning, Bennett's Fish and Chips stands as a testament to the art of fish frying. As arthur wac puts it, it's "simply and honestly the BEST fish and chips" he's had in years. If you find yourself in Weymouth, don’t miss out on the opportunity to savor your own unforgettable meal at Bennett's—where tradition meets excellence by the sea.
“ The best fish chips and mushy peas I have ever had!! They were to die for. Thoroughly recommend Benches on the quayside with a lovely view to eat them with. ”
“ Simply and honestly BEST fish and chips I had in last few years. Fantastic harbour location. Fresh, amazing tasty fish and batter, great chips and amazing service. Staff very polite, efficient and helpful. Definitely will return and recommend. ”
“ Excellent fish and chips from Bennett’s. Popular seaside fish and chip shops are often over-rated and overpriced but that’s not the case here. It was nice to see the day’s type of potatoes and source of the fish displayed. Bit of a queue but efficient and friendly service. Perfect chips - nice crisp texture, thick cut and a nice golden brown colour. I had the locally caught mackerel fillets which had a great flavour and suited being bettered and fried as an alternative to cod haddock etc. Reasonable value at 12.35 for mackerel, chips and mushy peas. I would definitely recommend and use again if visiting Weymouth. ”
“ Family of four 3 cod and 1 haddock all with chips just over 40 take away very good value batter was crispy and not “greasy” chip were proper English traditional chunky. Not French fries. We sat alongside the harbour on a bench opposite the shop. Staff were polite and efficient even though it was very busy. Restaurant section was full hence sitting outside. Always a good sign for a good chippy. ”
“ Honestly, the haddock I had from there was truly the freshest and most delicious piece of fish I've ever had. Memorable. Got there late and they were sold out, but was asked to wait 10 minutes whilst they cooked a fresh piece. Well worth waiting for. I will return to Weymouth just to repeat the experience. ”
“ An outstanding traditional fish and chip experience in Weymouth. Their excellent customer service truly stands out, with every order served with a smile. Portions are generous, and they boast a fantastic selection of fish, including cod and haddock. The lovely seating area and clean WC facilities add to the comfort, making it a clean and family-friendly spot. They conveniently accept both digital payments and cash. While it can get very busy, reflecting its popularity, both eat-in and takeaway options are available. Highly recommended! ”
“ There were long queues for take outs, however we were fortunate to get a table in the dining area. Absolutely fabulous fish & chips. The fish batter was perfectly crisp. We shared a large fish & chips, which was ample for the 2 of us at just less than 17.00. Great value! Definitely recommend this place. ”
“ By Far One of the best fish and chip shop/restaurant I have ever been in ! This one is a high recommendation for anyone visiting or living local . This place is set just out of the main town on the docks which brings that tradition feeling of an old fashioned sea side chip shop . Take away or seating is available with a view of the old dock and also toilet facilities are available for customers . The food is absolutely outstanding there is a notice board that gives you information on the ship, where the fish has been caught and where the potatoes are from locally. This is one of those places that you have to go and try it for yourself, it’s traditional British food made the traditional way ! Prices are reasonable but again you are paying for top quality! Staff are friendly and efficient and restaurant is very clean and regular cleaned after each table use . Street parking, 5/10 min walk from town centre, drinks are available for purchase, child friendly and child meals available. ”
